Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 9, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how HostMap ("HostMap", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you visit hostmap.io (the "Site") or use our services. HostMap is a directory that lists and compares web hosting providers.

By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Who we are

HostMap is operated by WebTouch Ltd. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at [email protected].

Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Information you provide directly. When you create an account, submit or claim a listing, purchase a paid listing, or contact us, we may collect your name, email address, the listing or business details you submit, and any messages you send us.
  • Payment information. When you purchase a paid listing or subscription, payment is processed by our third-party payment provider, Creem. We do not store your full card details on our servers. We receive limited transaction information (such as your email, plan purchased, payment status, and a transaction reference) needed to fulfill your order.
  • Usage and device information. Like most websites, we automatically collect information such as your IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, and referring URLs.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and understand how the Site is used.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Site and our directory services;
  • Create and manage your account and any listings you submit or claim;
  • Process payments and deliver paid listings or subscriptions;
  • Respond to your enquiries and provide support;
  • Send service-related communications (for example, order confirmations or account notices);
  • Send marketing or product updates where you have opted in, and which you can opt out of at any time;
  • Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or security issues;
  • Comply with our legal obligations.

How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed with:

  • Service providers who help us run the Site, such as our payment provider (Creem), hosting/infrastructure providers, email delivery services, and analytics providers, each acting on our behalf;
  • Public listings. Information you choose to publish in a listing (such as a business name, description, and links) is displayed publicly on the Site by design;
  • Legal and safety reasons, where required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of HostMap, our users, or others;
  • Business transfers, in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.

Third-party links and providers

HostMap lists and links to third-party hosting providers and other websites. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party site you visit.

Data retention

We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion as described below.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your data, to object to certain processing, and to data portability. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected]. We will respond in line with applicable law. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International transfers

We may process and store information in countries other than the one in which you live. Where we transfer personal information across borders, we take steps to ensure it remains protected in line with applicable law.

Children's privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
